The Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute (IKI RAS) has issued an announcement regarding the imminent approach of a substantial asteroid, identified as 2025 FA22, towards Earth. This celestial body is noted as one of the most significant asteroids to pass near our planet this year.

It is predicted that asteroid 2025 FA22 will make its closest pass tomorrow, September 18th. The trajectory will bring it to a distance slightly exceeding the diameter of the Moon`s orbit. The moment of its minimum proximity to Earth is anticipated on Thursday, approximately at 10 AM Moscow time.

Scientists have provided detailed measurements, stating that the asteroid`s average diameter is approximately 166 meters, with an impressive length stretching to 290 meters. A key characteristic highlighted by researchers is its immense mass, which is estimated to be roughly one thousand times greater than that of the Chelyabinsk meteor. The Chelyabinsk meteor famously fragmented over the Ural region on February 15, 2013, causing widespread impact.
