A luminous object, believed to be a bolide, traversed the night sky over the Chelyabinsk region on Friday, observed by local residents.
A video shared by local resident Dmitry Moskin on social media platform `VKontakte` captured the event, showing the sky briefly lit up by an intense flash, followed by the appearance of a fireball. The object then dissipated within seconds.
This sighting brings to mind the meteorite event in the Chelyabinsk region on February 15, 2013. A fragment of that meteorite, weighing approximately 600 kilograms, was recovered from Lake Chebarkul and is now on display in a museum. While there were no fatalities in the 2013 incident, over 1,600 people sustained injuries, with 52 requiring hospitalization.
