Three Russian cosmonauts from Roscosmos – Sergey Ryzhikov, Alexey Zubritsky, and Oleg Platonov – extended their congratulations to the Russian student team directly from the International Space Station (ISS) for their triumphant victory at the International Artificial Intelligence Olympiad held in China. This announcement came from the Central University.

The Russian team achieved an outstanding performance, securing the top spot among 300 participants from 61 nations. They set a new record for the highest number of gold medals, earning six gold, one silver, and one bronze award. The team was prepared by experts from the Central University, with support from the Artificial Intelligence Alliance and the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology.

«We wholeheartedly congratulate you on this remarkable success,» stated Ryzhikov, whose words were quoted in the university`s announcement. «We also extend our congratulations to your mentors from the Central University, who made a significant contribution to training these champions, as well as to the staff of the AI Alliance, the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, and, of course, your parents. Everyone provided immense support to your team.»

Representing Russia at these global competitions were students from various cities including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Novosibirsk, Ufa, and Vladivostok. The team members were Matvey Belyaev, Mikhail Vershinin, Timur Garifullin, Danis Dinmukhametov, Oleg Drokanov, Andrey Khlopotnykh, Artem Mazur, and Konstantin Sigalov.

Platonov urged the victors not to rest on their laurels but to continue striving for new heights. The cosmonaut expressed confidence that their dedication would lead them to many more significant achievements in the future.

Zubritsky emphasized that this marks the second consecutive time the Russian team has become a record-holder at the International AI Olympiad. He recalled that in 2024, the team, also prepared by the Central University, secured victory at the first International AI Olympiad held in Bulgaria. On that occasion, they significantly outperformed competitors from 39 countries, including strong teams from China, Japan, Canada, Sweden, the Netherlands, the USA, and others.
