The Crew Dragon spacecraft, with Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platoov as part of its crew, has successfully docked with the International Space Station (ISS). The docking, which occurred on August 2, was live-streamed by NASA.
The launch was originally slated for Thursday, July 31, but was delayed by 24 hours due to unfavorable weather conditions. The Falcon-9 rocket, transporting the Crew Dragon, lifted off at 6:43 PM Moscow time on August 1 from Cape Canaveral, Florida.
Alongside Platoov, the crew comprises American astronauts Zena Cardman, who serves as commander, and pilot Michael Fincke, along with Kimiya Yui, a specialist from the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA).
This mission is being conducted under the framework of a cross-flight agreement established between Roscosmos and NASA.
Following this docking, the preceding Crew Dragon spacecraft is anticipated to return to Earth. Its manifest includes Roscosmos cosmonaut Kirill Peskov, NASA astronauts Anne McClain and Nicole Ayers, and Japanese astronaut Takuya Onishi.
