JSC GLONASS has developed and is currently testing a new Russian system for high-precision automatic vehicle control. This technology is particularly relevant for the agricultural and road construction sectors.
«Trajectory control for machinery with centimeter-level accuracy is especially critical for the agricultural and road construction industries. This precision is achieved through the high-precision navigation technology developed by JSC GLONASS and State Corporation Roscosmos, combined with unique control algorithms that compensate for the technical characteristics of heavy industrial vehicles, ensuring accurate movement,» said Alexei Raikevich, head of JSC GLONASS.
He explained that for the agricultural sector, these technologies are applicable across the entire crop cultivation cycle.
«The system effectively supports the full range of agricultural tasks, from soil preparation and sowing to harvesting. It significantly increases the efficiency and accuracy of technological operations while simultaneously reducing the workload on the machine operator,» the company head added.
Raikevich specified that successful testing of the system for agricultural machinery was conducted in the Voronezh region in May and at the Timiryazev Agricultural Academy in Moscow in June.
Additionally, according to him, the system can be actively employed in road construction activities, proving especially valuable when laying road surfaces. The initial phase involves equipping road rollers, which will improve the quality and precision of all technological operations with minimal human intervention.
Future plans include extending the control capabilities to manage not only the vehicle`s path but also its speed. This expansion aims to achieve full automation for specialized industrial equipment.
