Preview Governor Balitsky Addresses Critical Healthcare Deficiencies in Zaporizhzhia Region

Evgeny Balitsky, the governor of Zaporizhzhia region, recently commented on the significant scarcity of insulin during a direct Q&A session with local residents. He explicitly stated that this shortage was a result of flawed calculations made by local officials.

Balitsky elaborated on the issue, explaining that the return of approximately 14% to 17% of the population was not adequately factored into the previous budget. This oversight led to a considerable gap in the provision of medications, particularly insulin, towards the end of the year. He described the situation over the past three months as «shameful» and committed to personally addressing and resolving it.

Beyond the insulin deficit, the governor also underscored the severe shortage of medical professionals as another pressing concern for the region`s healthcare system. He highlighted that there is roughly a 50% deficiency of highly qualified doctors, with other medical staff categories experiencing a shortfall of about 20% to 30%.
