Moscow is bracing for thunderstorms, accompanied by wind gusts of up to 15 meters per second and intermittent rain, with temperatures anticipated to reach 26 degrees Celsius by evening.

The Russian Hydrometeorological Center has issued a moderate danger warning for thunderstorms, valid until 9 PM. Meteorologist Alexey Safonov, a weather observer for the Meteoweb project, stated that this unsettled weather pattern, including potential hail and thunderstorms, is expected to continue through the weekend and into early next week:
“Today`s thunderstorms and rain are linked to a nearby occluded front, which is expected to clear by Friday, bringing sunshine with temperatures around 25-27 degrees Celsius. However, the rest of the period will see convective precipitation, potential thunderstorms, and wind gusts of 15-18 meters per second. This unsettled weather isn`t just for the end of the week; it will extend into early next week. Our two-week forecast doesn`t show temperatures reaching 30 degrees or higher; instead, we anticipate a comfortable 25-27 degrees, potentially dropping to 23-25 degrees by mid-next week. Despite the thunderstorms and rain, the mornings will be suitable for swimming and sunbathing. On Saturday and Sunday, this weather pattern will continue, bringing showers, localized thunderstorms, and some hail. Daytime temperatures will hover around 25-27 degrees, cooling slightly to 24-26 degrees on Sunday, while nights remain warm at 16-18 degrees, all accompanied by afternoon rains.”
Moscow`s Department of Transport has issued a cautionary statement, urging drivers to exercise vigilance. Motorists are advised to adhere to speed limits, maintain safe distances, avoid parking near trees or unstable structures, and refrain from using mobile phones while driving. The department particularly emphasizes increased caution when navigating inclines and descents on bridges and overpasses.
The city experienced extreme weather on Tuesday, July 15, when a month`s worth of rainfall descended upon Moscow in a mere two hours, accompanied by thunderstorm winds reaching speeds of up to 23 meters per second. Social media was inundated with videos showcasing submerged streets and buildings, as the intense downpour led to complete road closures in several city areas.
