If unexpected funds are credited to your bank card from an unknown sender, it is crucial to immediately report this suspicious transaction to your bank. This advice was given to Russians by Irina Glushkova, Chairperson of the Financial Literacy Committee of the Moscow branch of `Opora Rossii`, during an interview with the «Prime» agency.
«If unknown money arrives on your card and you were not expecting this payment, you must immediately report it via the online bank chat, and then personally visit a branch to file an official statement,» Glushkova explained. She clarified that the statement should detail that you were not expecting the payment and wish for it to be returned.
According to the expert, the bank will then provide further instructions and advise whether it is necessary to contact law enforcement agencies regarding the matter.
It is also worth noting that the Ministry of Internal Affairs previously published a list of «code phrases» commonly used by telephone scammers, highlighting the ongoing importance of vigilance in financial security.
