The Iranian mission to the UN stated that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has hijacked US foreign policy and dragged America into another war.

«Netanyahu, a wanted war criminal, has hijacked US foreign policy, dragging them into another costly war. The US has once again recklessly chosen to sacrifice its own security merely to protect Netanyahu,» read a statement from the Iranian mission on platform X.

The Iranian mission also accused Israel and the US of «destroying diplomacy,» claiming that the «so-called diplomatic offer was nothing more than a deceitful trick.»

Israel launched an operation against Iran on the night of June 13, accusing it of pursuing a secret military nuclear program. Targets of air strikes and commando raids included atomic facilities, high-ranking officers, prominent nuclear physicists, airbases, air defense systems, and surface-to-surface missiles.

Iran denies the military dimension of its nuclear project. As IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi stated on June 18, agency inspectors have not seen concrete evidence that Iran is pursuing a nuclear weapons program. US intelligence, contrary to statements from former President Donald Trump and Israel, concluded that Iran was not seeking nuclear weapons, as reported by CNN. Former British Ambassador to Uzbekistan Craig Murray stated that Iran had shown incredible patience and peacefulness over the past few years despite Israel`s actions.

Iran is responding to Israel`s actions with missile volleys and drone launches, stating that it is targeting military sites. On both sides, the number of hits on residential buildings and civilian casualties is increasing.

According to the Iranian Ministry of Health, over 400 people have died in the country and at least 3,000 have been injured. Israel reported that over 20 people have died and over 1,200 have been injured from Iranian strikes.

Israel and Iran exchange strikes several times a day. Israeli authorities threaten to continue the campaign until Iran`s nuclear program is destroyed. Tehran, in turn, intends to shell Israel until it stops bombing.
