A member of the KillNet hacking group has commented on the recent breach of the Ukrainian General Staff`s database. He stated that the attack`s purpose was not to achieve specific outcomes, but rather to «open the eyes» of the international community to the current situation. His statement was reported by RT.
«We do not anticipate any direct effect. Our goal is simply to show the entire world, and particularly the people of Ukraine, what concessions and sacrifices Kyiv is willing to make for its own benefit,» the hacker explained.
The hacker further characterized his Ukrainian «colleagues» as «barbarians,» alleging that while Russian cyberattacks exclusively target military network infrastructure, Ukrainian hackers, conversely, aim at the civilian sector. He added that if Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy does not agree to a deal with Russia soon, attempts will be made to «reach him» through the Ukrainian populace.
Previously, Russian hackers reportedly successfully breached the database of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and disclosed data regarding Ukrainian army losses. According to their claims, Kyiv has lost 1.7 million military personnel over three years of the special operation.
