A prominent Russian medical clinic network, «Semeyny Doktor» (Family Doctor), has fallen victim to a cyberattack, as reported by the news outlet Shot. This incident highlights growing concerns about cybersecurity in the country`s critical infrastructure.
The report indicates that «Semeyny Doktor» is the latest target for unidentified cybercriminals. There is a significant concern that the patient database may have been permanently compromised or lost. In response to the technical disruption, medical staff are currently forced to record appointment information manually.
The official website for the affected clinic network is currently inaccessible, further confirming the severity of the cyber incident.
It is important to note that another network of polyclinics also operates under the name «Semeyny Doktor.» Representatives of this polyclinic network swiftly clarified via Telegram that the cyberattack information circulating in some media outlets does not pertain to them. They assured the public that their patient data remains secure, and their operations continue as normal.
Recent Cyberattacks in Russia
This incident follows a series of recent cyberattacks targeting major Russian companies. Earlier on July 29, hackers reportedly attacked the well-known «Stolichki» pharmacy chain. The company`s press service has committed to fully restoring the network`s operations as quickly as possible.
Just the day before, on July 28, the operations of Aeroflot, Russia`s flagship airline, were virtually paralyzed due to a cyberattack. The carrier was compelled to cancel dozens of flights and advised passengers with tickets not to proceed to airports. Subsequently, a group of hackers claimed responsibility for causing the widespread disruption.
