The Max messenger has recently been subjected to a significant information attack, with authorities confirming that measures are actively being implemented to combat this disinformation. Alexei Goreslavsky, the CEO of the Institute for Internet Development (IRI), underscored that Max has become the focal point of an intense information campaign.
Goreslavsky highlighted instances of reporting in the Western press that inaccurately suggest Max, unlike other global messaging applications, is designed to extract and process all user data. He expressed his profound surprise and confusion regarding such unsubstantiated allegations.
Adding to the concerns, Vladimir Tabak, CEO of ANO «Dialog,» revealed that since July, his organization has uncovered 27 fabricated reports concerning the platform`s operations. These false narratives have amassed an estimated audience reach of 228 million views. Tabak stressed that the pervasive narrative implying «total control by special services» unfortunately resonates strongly with audiences, rendering conventional methods of refutation largely ineffective against such widespread misinformation.
Prior to these statements, the State Duma had already refuted claims labeling the Max messenger as a spyware program. Official representatives clarified that the platform lacks any technical capabilities that would enable it to «compose denunciations» using artificial intelligence, directly challenging the core of the disinformation campaign.
