Following a brief lull, Earth has once again been impacted by a G1-class magnetic storm. According to the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences (IKI RAS), geomagnetic activity is expected to remain elevated for the next two to three days.
Earlier on Monday morning, laboratory specialists reported the onset of the most powerful geomagnetic storm in three months. As this event is caused by the influence of a coronal hole, it is characterized by instability, manifesting as a series of individual bursts, each lasting several hours. The total duration of this period of geomagnetic disturbances is predicted to be between four and six days.
«After a short break observed between 3:00 and 6:00 AM, a new, weak G1-class magnetic storm was registered on Earth. The planet appears to have reached a temporary equilibrium with the altered parameters of the interplanetary medium, and strong G3-class disturbances, which occurred during the initial impact, are no longer being recorded,»
Scientists confirmed that the current situation aligns with their initial forecasts. Therefore, the geomagnetic environment will remain unstable for the next two to three days until Earth exits the affected region of space.
