Moscow is set to experience a period of dry and warm weather this coming week, bringing what is traditionally known as «Old Indian Summer.» Daytime temperatures will gradually climb, reaching up to +8°C early in the week and potentially rising to +14°C by the weekend. Nighttime temperatures will hover around zero, with slight frosts possible. Rainfall is expected to cease from Monday.
A detailed forecast was provided by Alexander Ilyin, a meteorologist from the «Meteo» forecasting center:
“The weather for the upcoming work week and weekend in Moscow and the Moscow region will be influenced by a Scandinavian cyclone, bringing dry, somewhat cool weather, with temperatures lagging behind the norm by a couple of degrees, which is not significant, meaning it`s quite close to normal values. It will be dry, with nighttime temperatures in Moscow and the Moscow region ranging from -1°C to +4°C. On Tuesday and Wednesday nights, even in the megapolis, slight frosts are possible, meaning temperatures dropping slightly below zero degrees. In the second half of the work week and on the weekend, minimum nighttime temperatures will rise above zero, expected to be between +2°C and +7°C. Daytime temperatures will warm up from +9°C to +14°C starting from Monday and practically until Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, it will get warmer, reaching +11°C to +16°C. The wind in the first half of the work week will blow from the northwest-north at a speed of four to nine meters per second, then at the end of the work week and on the weekend, it will shift its direction to southeast-east and weaken to one to four meters per second. Atmospheric pressure throughout the work week will vary between 763-765 or 762-764 millimeters of mercury.”
Notably, an extremely high atmospheric pressure of up to 767 millimeters of mercury is expected in the capital on September 30th.
