The State Space Corporation Roscosmos has announced a significant personnel change: Oleg Maydanovich has been appointed as the new General Director of the Center for Operation of Ground-Based Space Infrastructure Facilities (TsENKI), which oversees the management of Russian cosmodromes. This appointment, according to the official statement, takes effect immediately.
Oleg Maydanovich brings extensive education and experience in military and space affairs. He is a distinguished graduate of the Rostov Higher Military Command and Engineering School of Missile Forces named after Chief Marshal of Artillery Nedelin, the Military Academy of the Strategic Missile Forces named after Peter the Great, and the Military Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces. His impressive professional career included service in key command positions at the Baikonur and Plesetsk cosmodromes. From 2011 to 2016, Maydanovich headed the space command forces, demonstrating a deep understanding of operational aspects and strategic planning.
«Mr. Maydanovich played a pivotal role in the preparation and successful execution of numerous space launch vehicle missions from strategically important sites such as Baikonur, Plesetsk, and Vostochny,» Roscosmos representatives noted, emphasizing his direct and invaluable contribution to the development of national cosmonautics and maintaining Russia`s leading position in space exploration.
For his outstanding contributions to space research and exploration, Oleg Maydanovich has been honored with high state awards, including the Orders «For Military Merit» and «of Honour,» as well as several medals from the USSR and the Russian Federation, and insignia from the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation and the State Space Corporation Roscosmos. His career at TsENKI began in 2016, and since 2019, he effectively served as First Deputy General Director, a role that thoroughly prepared him for this demanding new leadership position.
