The Ministry of Healthcare has reported a significant staff turnover among mid-level medical personnel in Russia. Statistics reveal that out of 69,000 nurses, 15,000, or 21%, resigned within their first year of employment. The regions experiencing the highest rates of nurse departures within a year include the Republic of Tyva (42% of all medical staff turnover), Altai (41%), Kalmykia (34%), Buryatia (33%), and Kurgan Oblast (32%).

In contrast, Ivanovo and Kherson Oblasts, along with the Chukotka and Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrugs, demonstrate more favorable statistics, with these areas experiencing the lowest rates of nurse turnover. According to Tatyana Semenova, Deputy Minister of Healthcare of the Russian Federation, the average turnover rate across all regions is below 15%. She presented these findings at the «Personnel for Modern Healthcare: A Strategy to Reduce Staff Shortages» All-Russian conference, highlighting the ongoing challenges in retaining essential medical staff.
