Russian President Vladimir Putin recently undertook a visit to the advanced scientific and production complex situated within the St. Petersburg State Marine Technical University, widely recognized by its unofficial name, «Korabelka.» This notable engagement was part of the President`s official working trip to St. Petersburg, strategically coinciding with the celebration of Navy Day.
The core of this visit was the Scientific and Production Complex (SPC), which operates as a leading scientific and technological division under the university`s Institute of Laser and Welding Technologies (ILIST). Official reports highlight a significant achievement from 2022 to 2023: the SPC’s postgraduate students and emerging researchers successfully completed a comprehensive program for the full import substitution of all crucial components required for direct laser growing installations.
The SPC boasts an impressive roster of clients, including prominent state corporations such as «Rosatom» (State Atomic Energy Corporation) and «Roscosmos» (State Space Corporation). Other key partners include the «United Engine Corporation» (ODK) and various enterprises specializing in both gas turbine and transport machinery manufacturing, showcasing the breadth of its industrial impact.
Within its modern facilities, the SPC implements an end-to-end production cycle. This extensive process covers every stage from the initial conceptual design and precise fabrication to the meticulous setup and rigorous testing of state-of-the-art technological equipment. This equipment is specifically designed for large-scale additive manufacturing. Furthermore, the complex is dedicated to pioneering new technologies, producing finished goods utilizing this cutting-edge machinery, and assembling substantial structures that integrate these innovative components.
During his tour of the complex, President Putin was accompanied by a distinguished group of high-ranking officials. This delegation included Presidential Aides Alexey Dyumin, Nikolai Patrushev, and Andrey Fursenko, along with St. Petersburg Governor Alexander Beglov, and Minister of Education Valery Falkov. Their presence underscored the national importance of the visit and the work being conducted at «Korabelka.»
