Gennady Krasnikov, President of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), has underscored the substantial contributions of Russian scientists to the national economy. Speaking to RIA Novosti, he highlighted their involvement in both strategic economic forecasting and direct applications across various sectors of the economy.
Krasnikov detailed how members of the RAS`s economic departments work in close cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia, particularly in the realm of economic predictions. Last year, the Academy provided crucial analysis, feedback, and proposals concerning tax reforms that impacted both businesses and individuals. Beyond these advisory functions, Russian scientists are actively engaged in the practical development of end products that benefit the national economy.
To illustrate these efforts, Krasnikov cited Academician Alexander Inozemtsev, who is spearheading projects for the creation of new aircraft engines. Furthermore, other researchers within the Academy are dedicated to developing advanced materials, implementing additive technologies in the space industry, and contributing to vital sectors such as rare-earth metals and energy. The head of the RAS stressed the widespread nature of their work, stating that virtually every industry today benefits from the participation of Russian scientists.
In the agricultural sector, for example, researchers are actively engaged in solving problems related to food security, ensuring high crop yields, and advancing work in plant breeding and animal husbandry. Similarly, in the extraction of mineral resources, their expertise is applied to equipment development and specialist involvement in exploration to determine the most efficient technologies for extracting resources from geological formations.
Krasnikov concluded by noting that these examples represent merely a fraction of the Academy`s comprehensive work. He emphasized that the Russian Academy of Sciences, through its extensive research and development, permeates and actively influences almost all facets of the national economy.
