
Dmitry Bakalov, the head of Roscosmos, recently met with the crew of the American Crew Dragon spacecraft in the United States. This crew includes Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov, and during the encounter, Bakalov conveyed his wishes for a successful mission.
According to the Roscosmos press service, Bakalov’s visit took place at the renowned John F. Kennedy Space Center. Here, he engaged with the Crew Dragon crew, among whom Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov is preparing for his inaugural flight to the International Space Station, scheduled for Thursday.
Platonov introduced his Crew-11 mission colleagues to Dmitry Bakalov. The team comprises spacecraft commander Zena Cardman, pilot Michael Fincke, and Japanese mission specialist Kimiya Yui.
Commander Zena Cardman provided an explanation of the mission`s emblem. She noted that the three prominent stars on the emblem symbolize the three nations represented in the crew: Russia, Japan, and the United States. Additionally, smaller stars are incorporated into the design as a dedication to the children of the spaceflight participants.
Oleg Platonov shared that strong relationships have developed among the crew members throughout their rigorous preparation. He emphasized that he, along with the entire crew, is fully prepared for the upcoming space journey.
Concluding the meeting, the Roscosmos Director-General offered his heartfelt best wishes: «We wish you good luck and successful work, and we eagerly await your safe return. Thank you, and may everything proceed smoothly.»
