Roscosmos announced that the `Progress MS-30` cargo spacecraft successfully raised the orbit of the International Space Station (ISS) by 1.7 kilometers. This crucial correction maneuver was executed today at 7:28 AM Moscow time.

During the operation, the engines of the `Progress MS-30` fired for a total of 647.3 seconds, providing the station with a precisely calculated impulse of 1 m/s. As a direct result of this maneuver, the ISS`s orbital altitude reached 416.7 kilometers above Earth`s surface.

Roscosmos emphasized the importance of such regular orbital adjustments. At its operational altitude of approximately 400 kilometers, the International Space Station is constantly affected by the subtle drag of Earth`s residual atmosphere, which causes it to gradually lose altitude. Therefore, periodic corrections are vital to maintain its stable and safe operational height.
