Russia`s space agency, Roscosmos, has released a video showcasing the appearance of a powerful cyclone from space. This weather phenomenon was responsible for triggering a severe thunderstorm that swept through Moscow on Friday evening, August 2, 2025. The visual material presented in the video was compiled from satellite images captured by the advanced Russian spacecraft `Elektro-L` and `Arktika-M`.

On Friday night, the capital city experienced a torrential downpour accompanied by intense lightning and thunder. Earlier that day, Moscow`s municipal services had issued a warning to residents regarding the impending heavy rain and strong winds, which were expected to reach gusts of up to 17 meters per second and persist until Saturday morning. As a direct consequence of the severe weather, fifty-five flights at Moscow`s major airports—Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky—were delayed during the period from 10:00 PM Moscow time until midnight.
