Moscow, September 9 – Vladimir Efimov, Moscow`s Deputy Mayor for Urban Planning and Construction, has announced that the state corporation Roscosmos is slated to begin its relocation to the new National Space Center (NSC) in western Moscow as early as 2025.
Efimov clarified that the implementation of this significant project falls under the responsibility of «Mosengineeringproject,» a company owned by the Moscow city government. He expressed strong confidence that the move would commence this year, as the teams involved are actively developing the detailed relocation plan.
«My colleagues are currently finalizing the relocation plan. I am confident that the move will indeed begin this year,» Efimov stated.
Describing the facility, the Deputy Mayor emphasized that the NSC, spanning approximately 260,000 square meters, is an exceptionally complex and unique engineering marvel. He noted that while large construction projects typically proceed in two distinct phases – first the «shell & core» structure, followed by interior finishing and outfitting – the city`s technical client for the NSC is managing both the completion of construction and the internal fit-out simultaneously to expedite the process.
The construction of the National Space Center was initiated in late 2019, situated on the grounds of the M.V. Khrunichev State Research and Production Space Center. A striking architectural feature of the complex is its 288-meter-high, 47-story triangular tower, complete with a spire, evocatively designed to resemble a rocket poised on a launch pad. In addition to this dominant structure, the NSC campus incorporates several low-rise buildings, ranging from eight to ten stories. For the convenience of Roscosmos personnel, these buildings are seamlessly connected by pedestrian galleries and bridge crossings, facilitating easy movement throughout the complex.
