Russia`s Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko, has announced that close to 78,000 students are set to graduate from the country`s medical universities in 2025.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony of Sechenov University, the minister described this large group as a «colossal huge team» that will «come to our aid and will change healthcare, will change the world» alongside existing medical professionals (quoted by TASS).

Providing context, Mr. Murashko previously reported on February 25 that Russia faced a shortage of 23.3 thousand doctors and a deficit of 63.5 thousand mid-level medical personnel. He noted that the total number of medical doctors increased by 6.5 thousand between 2019 and 2024. In May, the minister outlined plans to reduce the overall shortage of medical staff by 95% by the end of 2030.
