Kremlin Spokesman Dmitry Peskov has affirmed the significant importance of maintaining communication between Moscow and Washington concerning space-related matters. However, he also cautioned against overestimating the influence of such interactions on the broader spectrum of bilateral relations. These remarks were made by Peskov in response to questions regarding the recent visit of Roscosmos head Dmitry Bakanov to the United States.
«These types of contacts are indeed very important. While we should probably not inflate the impact of keeping these contacts active on the entire scope of our bilateral relations, it is nonetheless extremely important to preserve dialogue, particularly in such critical areas,» Peskov stated to reporters.
Earlier, the press service of Roscosmos had announced that Dmitry Bakanov had traveled to the United States for discussions with Sean Duffy, the acting head of NASA, scheduled for July 31. His itinerary also includes a meeting with the crew of the Crew Dragon spacecraft, which features Russian cosmonaut Oleg Platonov among its members.
