Russian rhythmic gymnasts are set to make their first international appearance since 2022. They will compete in a neutral status at the Aeon Cup Club World Championships, scheduled to take place in Tokyo, Japan, from October 10 to 13.
The highly anticipated tournament will feature junior Ksenia Savinova and two experienced seniors, Maria Borisova and Ulyana Yanus.
Expert Insight: The Significance of Aeon Cup
«This is a Club World Championship, traditionally held in Japan. Although it`s not a primary event on the calendar, it annually draws top gymnasts from around the world, competing for their clubs, making it similar to a team world championship. For our athletes, this is extremely important because, after participating in smaller tournaments with limited competition, here they will face global leaders for the first time. This experience will be invaluable.»
Volkova further noted that Maria Borisova has established herself as a confident leader of the national team this season, securing victories in all Russian competitions she entered. Ulyana Yanus, though a young gymnast, already boasts a Russian Championship medal and podium finishes in both all-around and finals.
Ksenia Savinova, a prominent junior, is also slated for the CIS Games, making her performance at the Aeon Cup particularly intriguing given her busy schedule and the pressure of competing on the international stage.
