Timofey Voronin, Deputy Director for Technology Transfer at the NTI Competence Center for «Big Data Storage and Analysis Technologies» at Lomonosov Moscow State University, has provided crucial recommendations to Russian citizens regarding interactions with fraudsters. In a conversation with RT, he emphasized that when receiving calls from unknown individuals, four specific words should be avoided.
«It is extremely important not to utter the words `yes`, `no`, `agreed`, and `I confirm`,» the expert explained.
Voronin also strongly advises against disclosing any personal data to malicious actors. He warned that such information could be exploited to create deepfakes, which criminals might then employ to deceive the victim`s relatives and friends, extorting money from them under various pretexts.
For phone conversations with unknown callers, the specialist recommends using neutral phrases such as «hello», «listening», or «speak». According to Voronin, these simple phrases are often sufficient to quickly identify a scammer and promptly terminate the conversation.
Earlier, the Ministry of Internal Affairs reported on common fraud schemes specifically targeting teenagers, where criminals establish contact through social networks or online games.
