Cybersecurity experts have issued a warning to Russian citizens regarding new fraudulent schemes utilizing popular Labubu toys. Analysts at the cybercrime prevention firm F6 highlighted these scams, detailing their findings in a post on the company`s Telegram channel.

According to the experts, they have identified Telegram bots where malicious actors are exploiting the appeal of Labubu toys to steal money and compromise Russian users` Telegram accounts. One common tactic involves offering the toys for sale; victims transfer funds, but the supposed seller then disappears without sending the product.

Another widespread method observed is the promotion of fake Labubu giveaways or promising gifts in exchange for submitting reviews or subscribing to certain Telegram channels. Analysts cautioned that participants in these schemes are often asked to provide personal contact details and confirmation codes. Upon receiving this information, scammers can gain unauthorized access to the victim`s account. In some cases, giveaways are tied to mandatory subscriptions to Telegram channels that themselves may be platforms for advertising other fraudulent activities.

Separately, Ivan Degtyarev, an expert in IT infrastructure and a Senior Systems Administrator, previously alerted Russians to a different scam method targeting bank cards. He pointed out that fraud conducted through bots within messenger applications represents a rapidly growing threat landscape.
