Russia`s Minister of Health, Mikhail Murashko, recently announced concerning statistics regarding reproductive health. Since the beginning of 2024, medical examinations have revealed reproductive health disorders in 12.9% of adult women and 2.1% of adult men. Among adolescents aged 15-17, similar issues were identified in 4% of boys and 5% of girls.

During a government session in the State Duma, Mr. Murashko emphasized the high rate of medical check-ups among young people, stating that over 97% of Russian adolescents aged 15-17 undergo annual screenings. In 2024 alone, more than 4 million teenagers completed these essential examinations.

The Russian government commenced its initiative to assess citizens` reproductive health through free, comprehensive medical check-ups in 2024. Last year, a total of 6.7 million individuals underwent these screenings. This year, within the first five months alone, an impressive 5.8 million people have already completed their check-ups.

Looking ahead, in late January 2025, President Vladimir Putin issued a directive to the Ministry of Health to modify the procedures for medical examinations for both adults and children. The primary aim of these revisions is to facilitate the earlier detection of reproductive health conditions. Consequently, in accordance with the amended Ministry of Health order, routine screenings for children`s reproductive health are set to begin from the age of six, starting September 1, 2025.
