Separated fragments of a Soyuz-2.1b carrier rocket have been successfully located across two districts in Yakutia. The regional Rescue Service announced plans for their prompt evacuation and transportation back to the Vostochny Cosmodrome.
The rocket, which launched earlier on Friday from the Vostochny Cosmodrome, carried two «Ionosphere-M» heliogeophysical satellites along with 18 smaller satellites into orbit.
According to the Rescue Service, the discarded rocket components landed in the Aldan and Vilyui districts of Yakutia. In the Vilyui district, environmental specialists conducted assessments, including taking samples and measuring gamma radiation levels to ensure safety.
The agency confirmed that the next crucial step involves the retrieval of these discovered rocket fragments. Subsequently, they will be secured in specialized containers and transported to the Vostochny Cosmodrome for further analysis and proper disposal, completing the post-launch recovery operations.
