The Sun has emitted a significant cloud of plasma, which is currently traversing the solar system on a trajectory towards Venus. Scientists at the laboratory of solar astronomy within the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences have reported that this solar outburst might also potentially graze Mercury.
According to the researchers, these ejections are a natural mechanism for the Sun to shed excess energy. In a statement, they assured that while the plasma cloud is heading towards Venus, Earth is not currently in its path and remains unaffected by this particular event.
Further observations and trajectory analyses suggest a high probability that Mercury will experience the effects of this plasma cloud as it continues its journey through the inner solar system.
