The Sun recently ejected a powerful cloud of plasma towards Earth, simultaneously accompanied by a strong solar flare, as reported by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy at the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

According to the Laboratory`s statement, this plasma ejection was recorded from a complex of large active regions at the Sun`s center and is directed straight towards our planet.

This marks the second such ejection within the last 24 hours. The previous, medium-sized plasma cloud was directed towards Mercury and Venus, which are currently located in the same angular sector relative to the Sun.

Synchronously with the current ejection, an M2.76-class solar flare was registered, the strongest since August 26, reaching its peak at 23:02 Moscow time.

Preliminary assessments by scientists indicate that the mass of the ejected plasma is moderate and does not represent the full energy potential accumulated in the large central groups of sunspots. This suggests that new, more powerful flares might occur in the near future.

Information regarding the precise direction of the ejected material, its speed, and the estimated arrival time of the plasma at Earth is not yet available. More comprehensive data is expected no earlier than Sunday morning, after a full complex of observations from ground-based and space-based instruments has been gathered and analyzed.
