On Wednesday, two powerful M-class solar flares were observed on the Sun, according to data released by the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
The solar activity chart indicates that both flares slightly exceeded the minimum threshold to be categorized as strong. The first flare occurred around 05:00 Moscow Standard Time (MSK), with the second happening approximately at 20:00 MSK.
Additionally, several less intense C-class flares were detected on the Sun during the course of the day.
Currently, Earth is experiencing the effects of a geomagnetic storm triggered by this solar activity. Scientists forecast that this storm is expected to continue at least until the beginning of next week.
