Preview U.S. to Withdraw mRNA-Based COVID-19 Vaccines from Domestic Market

According to The Daily Beast, citing British cardiologist Aseem Malhotra—an ally of U.S. Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.—American authorities plan to withdraw mRNA-based COVID-19 vaccines from the U.S. market within the next few months.

Robert F. Kennedy Jr. previously announced on social media platform X that the U.S. Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority (BARDA) would cease funding mRNA vaccine development. He cited the vaccines` perceived ineffectiveness in protecting against upper respiratory infections, including COVID-19 and influenza, as the reason.

Malhotra also told the newspaper that «influential» members of former U.S. President Donald Trump`s family reportedly align with Kennedy`s stance on COVID vaccines.

Sources close to Kennedy Jr. reportedly conveyed their bewilderment over the continued use of the vaccines and suggested that a decision to remove them from the U.S. market, pending further research, would be made «within several months.» This move, they added, is anticipated despite potential concerns about «chaos» and significant legal ramifications.

mRNA technology is notably utilized in the COVID-19 vaccines produced by Pfizer and Moderna.
