Ученые из Лаборатории солнечной астрономии Института космических исследований (ИКИ) РАН сообщили о продолжающейся геомагнитной буре на Земле. Она началась в понедельник около полуночи по московскому времени после ожидаемого выброса солнечной плазмы. По прогнозам, это геомагнитное возмущение с небольшими перерывами продлится не менее суток, охватывая весь текущий день и, возможно, часть среды.
Тем не менее, специалисты отмечают, что геомагнитная активность пока протекает по «мягкому сценарию». Этому способствует благоприятная, или «положительная», ориентация межпланетного магнитного поля, которая ослабляет интенсивность магнитных бурь и северных сияний. Однако, согласно тем же прогнозам Лаборатории, к середине дня ожидается смена знака магнитного поля. После этого, при отсутствии сдерживающих факторов, геомагнитный шторм может достигнуть заявленного уровня G3.
Scientists on the Ongoing Geomagnetic Storm on Earth
Scientists from the Laboratory of Solar Astronomy of the Space Research Institute (IKI) of the Russian Academy of Sciences have reported an ongoing geomagnetic storm on Earth. It commenced around midnight Moscow time on Monday, following an anticipated solar plasma ejection. According to forecasts, this geomagnetic disturbance, with brief interruptions, is expected to persist for at least 24 hours, covering the entirety of the current day and likely extending into part of Wednesday.
Nevertheless, specialists note that the geomagnetic activity is currently unfolding according to a «mild scenario.» This is attributed to the favorable, or «positive,» orientation of the interplanetary magnetic field, which effectively suppresses the intensity of both magnetic storms and auroras. However, the same laboratory forecasts indicate that the magnetic field`s sign is expected to switch by midday. Subsequently, in the absence of inhibiting factors, the geomagnetic storm could escalate to the predicted G3 level.
