International Students Contribute Billions to State Revenue

September 8, 2026Юрий Верхотуров1 мин

A study indicates a clear financial benefit for the state: the cohort of nearly 82,000 international students who began their studies with the intention of graduating in 2023 are expected to generate approximately 127 billion euros in value creation over their entire working lives. Consequently, public finances are projected to see a long-term surplus of 23.1 billion euros. This means that, according to these calculations, the taxes and social contributions from these students are expected to exceed the state's expenditures on them, such as for study places or social benefits.
